Welcome to the ninth installment of the EVE Blog Banter and its first contest, the monthly EVE Online blogging extravaganza created by CrazyKinux. The EVE Blog Banter involves an enthusiastic group of gaming bloggers, a common topic within the realm of EVE Online, and a week to post articles pertaining to the said topic. The resulting articles can either be short or quite extensive, either funny or dead serious, but are always a great fun to read! Any questions about the EVE Blog Banter should be directed here. Check out other EVE Blog Banter articles at the bottom of this post!

"Last month Ga'len asked us which game mechanic we would most like to see added to EVE. This month Keith "WebMandrill" Nielson proposes to reverse the question and ask what may be a controversial question: Which game mechanic would you most like to see removed completely from EVE and why? I can see this getting quite heated so lets keep it civil eh?"

This will be my first attempt at any substantial writing on this blog. And so I begin.

"What would you most like to see removed from EVE?"

It's a tough question for me. I've been around an awfully short time as of this post, only a month or two, and have experienced very little of EVE. So take this with the knowledge that I know what amounts to nothing and haven't played EVE in the way many play it.

I've liked EVE. I really have. It has proven to be a much larger and stranger place than I expected. In turn I've been surprised by quite a bit and even those things which some people are aggravated by, I've apprciated. I've liked the massive challenge of figuring out what to do after the tutorials. I've liked fumbling around on the Internet to figure out fittings. I've like listening to podcasts and reading forums because I don't have any clue what anything is. I've even come to appreciate being podded in high sec and getting my cans flipped because it adds a level of reality, a level of depth, and a level of brutality to the game. I didn't decide to play an mmo because I wanted something mindless and simple and sweet, Jane Austen answered that desire. I wanted an escape into excitement and adventure. So I applaud those jerks who kill noobs and swipe their little bit of veldspar in high sec. Keep up the good work; it makes my gameplay intresting.

And so as a noob, an uninitiated young capsuleer, I've got no real complaints about the game. I wouldn't change anything... except maybe the way drones look. I'm completely baffled by the insect like appearance of them. I'm almost certain that it would aid in no way to the flight capabilities of a ship to look like a metal invertebrate.

P.S. That guy in the vexor is flipping my can.

Nice to hear that you're enjoying yourself, even the darker sides of the game. I am sure you'll find enough you don't like as you progress :)).

Sounds like you and I are very much at the same stage in our introduction to EVE. I want to participate in the blog banter but I just feel like it's all so new and wonderful at this point.. it's hard to find something to hate, yet.

You'll go far in Eve with an attitude like that. It takes a certain mindset to really appreciate being podded in high sec :P

I've been playing off and on for a couple years now, and I still feel too newbish to write anything of my own for this blog banter, heh
